Father's Day Popsicle Stick Card
Father’s day is upon us, and the best thing to do is create something straight from the heart. Get the kids involved in this craft for sure. Depending on their ages you will need to write down their responses. Hubby is a big fan of homemade gifts for any occasion—in fact we made paper neckties for Father’s Day last year and they are still hanging on the fridge!
These cards roll up and get tied with a little bow, which is a good opportunity to perhaps roll up a bar of dad’s favorite candy on the inside!
You will need:
* 10 Popsicle Sticks
* Hot glue (I know I know big surprise right?)
* Markers to color the sticks
* Piece of paper the length of the ten sticks and about 3” wide
* Length of ribbon, long enough to cross the popsicle sticks with about 4” extra on each side.
Step One:
Have your little artists color the popsicle sticks. Multiple colors look super cute so allow them to be as adventurous as they want!
While they are coloring, ask them what are some things they love about Daddy—and either have them write it if they are old enough, or write it yourself.
Step Two:
Lay out the popsicle sticks and center the ribbon. Using hot glue, affix the ribbon to the popsicle sticks. If you are using a single sided ribbon, make sure the design is showing, as this will be seen when you “tie up” your card.
Step Three:
Flip over the sticks with the now hot glued ribbon and center the note with the sentiments. Hot glue down each side of the paper and press lightly to make sure it sticks. Once cooled down enough, slightly bend between each stick to make sure you can roll up the card.
Step Four:
Roll up the card and tie a nice bow, depending on what Dad’s favorite candy bar is, pop it in the middle, or wrap it around the handle of a new golf club, tennis racket, gym bag, whatever dad is into! The possibilities are pretty endless here. Either way, enjoy watching dad try not to tear up when he reads the kid’s sentiments.
Final Verdict? Another quick craft, but ends up being very sentimental, a nice keepsake. Dads will love it!
Kid Friendly? Definitely—though I do recommend an adult does the hot glue portion. To make it completely kid friendly use a craft glue or glue dots. The kids now want to make these cards for everyone for every occasion!
TRieD! And Succeeded!
