Yarn Star

A rainy day in calls for a craft that takes a little while to create but is simple to complete. Some of the things I like about this is it gets the kids to focus on fine finger movements and dexterity, it gets them to focus on a plan for the yarn, which helps with problem solving skills, and depending on the shapes you find and the color yarn you choose, you could potentially end up with really cute Christmas tree ornaments (I know! Too soon….)

You will need:

* Plastic canvas shapes

* Yarn

* Plastic needle or wire to create a blunt tip needle

* Time and patience

Step One:

Decide where you want to start weaving and tie a knot.

Step Two:

Weave in your pattern until all the holes are filled.

Step Three:

Use the excess string to create a hanging loop and hang from your desired location. That’s it! Super simple craft that looks very cute once complete.

Final Verdict? The kids loved that they were allowed to make this from start to finish, and it’s something that I can cherish as they grow older. I do think this will end up on my Christmas tree in December.

Kid Friendly? Yep, but probably start around age 5, Boose created the star in question, Bubby doesn’t quite have the patience.

TRieD! And Succeeded!
